Welcome to the Department of Physiology, where faculty, trainees and staff work hard to sustain a dynamic, diverse and productive community. We are loosely organized in research clusters that cover the breadth of physiological inquiry: from neurophysiology to cardiovascular biology, from reproductive endocrinology to muscle biology. Our training programs prepare scientists for successful careers in academia, industry, and government. As educators, we teach physiology and the principles of biomedical research to over a thousand undergraduate, professional, and graduate students every year. Even in challenging times, the Department continues to have an enviable level of extramural funding, both for our faculty and for trainees.
